Elective homeschooling is a term used where parents decide to adopt a certain curriculum while teaching the kid in their own way. That’s what I adopted. I’m using an elective homeschooling method to teach my kids. I’ve selected a proper curriculum for them, while I impart the knowledge using my own way of teaching, rather than using the methods used in schools. I focus on creative writing skills by organising paragraph, story writing competitions for my kids to not only develop a habit of writing but develop it with an interest to write. We sit for discussions after the reading of any chapter, questions are asked and answered, internet and search engines are used also to make the information about anything more understandable. I don’t like kids cramming whatever they read, I want them not only to understand it properly but should be able to explain it in their own words. I want them to think out of the box. Parents homeschool according to their own settings and surroundings. There are different techniques to homeschool a kid, I’ve chosen the elective homeschooling method. Remember, never compare yourself and your methods to other homeschooling families. Every household and their routine is different. The day you start comparing is the day you’ll go down instead of coming up. Do your own thing and trust yourself. Choose according to your own home settings and routine. You will be able to do everything.
